Mango Peach Salsa

Fresh mangoes and peaches combine with spicy peppers and lime to make a salty, sweet, spicy salsa that’s full of fresh summer flavors and perfect for dipping in. A spicy, tangy, sweet and salty mix of flavors using fresh mangoes and peaches that goes perfectly with tortilla chips as well as a topping on tacos, grilled fish, salmon, chicken, Tofu or Paneer. When we think of mangoes, we usually think of making a dessert, but this savory recipe is just perfect with chips and also goes great with tacos! Serve over a block of cream cheese for the perfect summer appetizer.

I first ate this salsa almost 25 years back when I was working as a Montessori teacher in Orlando. At the End Of The Year party, one of the parents got Strawberry Kiwi Salsa and Mango Peach Salsa. She actually called it Golden salsa and it had Nectarines and orange juice in it as well and was a little runny. I changed the recipe to where it wasn’t as runny and the  mango was the star ingredient. The two salsas stood out on the entire table not just for their vibrant colors but also for their flavors-so bold and fresh. Of course, I immediately got the recipe from her and have made it a few times since then. Must share my experience with Habanero peppers. I had absolutely no idea, how spicy they could be. The recipe called for one Habanero pepper, and I am thinking, I am an Indian, one Habanero is going to be too mild for me,so I added 4 peppers instead. I also did not wear gloves while chopping them and did I pay for that! My hands burned all day and I couldn’t eat the salsa because it was so spicy. Of course, my husband loved it and enjoyed the entire bowl by himself. For a unique recipe using habaneros, try my recipe of Habanero pepper Chatni-a sweet and spicy chatni.

This salsa can also be served over a block of cream cheese or as is with chips. Add fresh nectarines or pineapple for variation. Still looking for a mango dessert recipe, try Mango Mousse-No Eggs, Gelatin or Agar Agar. Its an easy, no cook, fool proof recipe.
