Roasted Foxnuts and Peanuts-Vrat ke Makhane

Foxnuts/Makhane and peanuts are roasted in only 2 spoons of oil to make a very healthy and low fat snack.

Servings 4 cups

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups Foxnuts/Makhana
  • 1 cup Raw Peanuts
  • 2 tsp oil
  • Kala Namak/Senda Namak/Salt as per taste I used 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Heat pan, add 1 tsp oil and then add the foxnuts
  • Stir on medium low till the foxnuts/makhana change color and turn crisp,set aside
  • In same pan, heat 1 tsp oil and add peanuts
  • Stir till peanuts turn slighty brown and crisp
  • Add salt and pepper and the roasted foxnuts/makhana
  • Mix well for a few minutes till salt and pepper also coats the foxnuts/makhana
  • Cool completely and store in an airtight container, lasts for 2-3 weeks

Notes

Separate the small foxnuts/makhana pieces as they will get done sooner than the larger pieces. Add the salt and pepper to the peanuts, stir and add foxnuts/makhana, this helps the salt and pepper stick to the peanuts and foxnuts/makhana.
